Vision

Our Vision

That I may know him,                                             I must experience Him daily

and the power of his resurrection,                           I must walk in the Spirit

and the fellowship of his sufferings,                        I must see Him through my trials

being made conformable unto his death;               I must live with His passion for my cross.

Philippians 3:10

Where there is no vision,                             when I lose sight of the vision

the people perish: …”                                     other people perish. John 3:16

Proverbs 18:4

For God so loved the world,

that he gave his only begotten Son,

that whosoever believeth in him

should not perish,

but have everlasting life.     John 3:16

I must be a living demonstration of the Christ life.

Write the Vision

Habakkuk, a Minor Prophet, had lost sight of the vision and become bitter because God was going to use the heathen to discipline His people, Habakkuk 2:1. So the Lord tells him to write the vision, verse 2.

Verse 3 looks like a contradiction but what He is saying is that the vision does not come in our time but in His time.

Verse 4 sums up our vision.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

The first part of the verse is pride, the self-life, which is having it my way. The theme song for hell is “I did it my way.” The second part tells me that I must learn His faith from His word and live daily by faith.

Habakkuk 2:1-4

  1. Keeps it clear
  2. Keeps it in your heart with review
  3. Keeps you running on course

Romans 12:1-2

  1. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
  2. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This is your gauge to test your self. Notice the three levels at the end of the verse.

  1. Good: My faith lines up with His faith. Ephesians 1:9
    1. His faith changed time and eternity.
    2. My faith will change time and eternity.
    3. II Corinthians 5:10 Your conscience reminds you of coming Judgment.
  2. Acceptable: My ways become His ways. Ephesians 5:10
    1. Learn His principles
    2. Learn the commands of Christ
    3. Learn His character qualities
  3. Perfect: His life has taken over my life. Ephesians 4:13
    1. John 15
    2. Philippians 3:12, 15
    3. Colossians 1:28 we are complete when we are done.

Perfect means complete

Our Vision on the path

That I may know him,

and the power of his resurrection,

and the fellowship of his sufferings,

            being made conformable unto his death;

Philippians 3:10

Our Vision at the end

I havefought a good fight,

I have finished my course,

I have kept the faith:                           II Timothy 4:7

To keep our vision sharp and in focus we need to learn our mission.

Transformation

From Sinner to Son of God

The Battle is for who will control our mind.

Because our mind directs our will to make decisions and Joy will be the result when the decision comes from the Holy Spirit.

The Battle of the Ages for Believers

Our Flesh has a brain and feelings that remember. They are like the pull of gravity that is constantly pulling us down.

Just as aerodynamics is the power to overcome gravity so Christ gave believers the power to overcome sins.

Our spirit is seated with Christ in Heaven. His Holy Spirit is in believers making perfect information available to make the right decision. The Holy Spirit is a gentleman and will never impose His will over us. We must consistently be in submission to have His perfect will.

Since our Old Man is crucified he ain’t no more so now our battle is with

  1. The world around us. Stand   therefore. Ephesians 6:14
  2. The devil above us.     Submit therefore. James 4:7
  3. The flesh within us.    Sin not therefore. Romans 6:12

Marriage is all about maturing, forgiving, and overcoming bitterness

Marriage that stays together

Marriage is a vow made between a man and a woman before God and witnesses. Contrary to popular opinion love does not hold a marriage together. It should begin with two funerals and one wedding ceremony.

16.  For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17.  And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

The above verses in Colossians 1 do not just tell us that God created the atoms and molecules but also marriage and He is the one that holds a marriage together.

Marriage between two believers is the ideal. They will have differences and must settle them by mutual agreement. Jesus tells us that from the beginning there was no divorce. Divorce was created under the law because of the hardness of hearts.

A Hard heart is a root of bitterness against God’s standards. All bitterness is ultimately against God because He allowed the person or circumstance that hurt them.

Consider Joseph:

  1. Joseph’s dilemma started in a deep pit of despair without being able to see the light.
  2. Then Joseph is sold into slavery. During his enslavement he holds onto God’s standards only to be put into prison.
  3. In prison he is forgotten for years by one that he helped.

The question Joseph and every bitter issue in life one needs to settle is do you believe Romans 8:

28.  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

29.  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

A believer must always come to the conclusion that God is in control and that His design is to shape the character of His children to be like His Son’s.

The evidence is overwhelming that Joseph learned this lesson and forgave his brothers because we read in Genesis 50:20

“But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.”

Men do not have the power to pardon sin be we do have the ability to forgive sin. Ultimately to forgive sin is to turn that person over to God not with the attitude “okay God now you get them.” Jesus forgave while hanging on the cross. Stephen forgave while being stoned to death.

The only limit God has on forgiveness is for those who do not receive the forgiveness for their sins. He calls that the unpardonable sin. Put together Matthew 18:22 and Luke 17:4 and you will find that God wants us to forgive beyond our counting ability on a daily basis.

When one walks out on a marriage or a couple agree to divorce; he, she, or they are announcing that they do not fear God. God’s response is found in Ecclesiastes 5:4

“When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.” Your vow was: “until death.”

A daughter of my parent’s best friends when I was growing up married a drug addict that abused her. After about 14 years of her commitment to her vow he converted and now their marriage has been transformed. They have been married 45+ years.

A pastor had a wife whose besetting sin was infidelity. He continued to forgive her but had to change churches often. I don’t know the end of that story on earth but I do know that God continues to forgive the infidelity of His children.

If love does not hold a marriage together what does? The fear of God holds a marriage together, which is just another way of saying the love of God. See 1John 4:12

“No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.”

The idea of being perfected means to grow up into maturity. So in the end it is love that holds a marriage together it’s just not their love for one another but their love for God and their willingness to work out the troubles. See I John 2:19

“They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.”

I am not saying that everyone that walks out on a marriage does not know the Lord but that they are bitter at Him. Marriages are repairable until one makes another vow. One’s relationship with God is repairable until death; Hebrews 9:27

“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”

Marriage is not a war where you look for a more powerful weapon than your enemy. Fight fair.

  1. Do not bring up past resolved issues, stay focused.
  2. Being the leader men does not make you superior. Jesus stepped down and was exalted.
  3. Being the weaker vessel ladies does not mean inferior. Gold is weaker than steel.
  4. The winner is the one that forgives because that is when you are most Christ like.

The hardest person to forgive is you. Just remember if the blood of Christ is sufficient for God it is surely sufficient for you and me.

This is not the final word on marriage. I am hoping for some feed back.

What is Revival?

Revival

What we deal with here we will not deal with at the Judgment Seat of Christ. If you think it is difficult to confess your sins to God and those you have offended now and then make restitution in this life just wait until the Judgment Seat of Christ.

If you deal with it now you will not face it later. If you wait until later you will suffer loss, no believers will not go to hell but lose rewards.

After the rapture we will go through the Judgment Seat of Christ. Satan is kicked out of heaven in the middle of the Tribulation. Satan is there as the accuser of the brethren during our judgment.

It always amazes me that people somehow think that waiting until later it will be easier to deal with. Think about it:

  • You will be standing before the Holy and Just God.
  • Satan himself will have all of the reports from his demon horde to accuse and mock you.
  • You knowing that God chooses not to remember anything you have confessed.

If you do not deal with it now you better start thinking of a good excuse to tell God then while that demon voice is laughing and mocking because of his victory in your life. But if you deal with it now then Jesus will be laughing and mocking at Satan.

At salvation we confess that we are a sinner and receive the gift of eternal life by faith in Jesus, John 1:12.

After salvation

  • We confess our sins as God sees them, I John 1:9 and thank Him for forgiveness.
  • We make restitution with those we have offended, Matthew 5:24
  • We claim the cross, Galatians 2:20, Romans 6, John 3:30 and thank Him for our place on the cross.
  • We ask to be filled with the Spirit, Luke 11:13 and thank Him for controlling us.

To walk otherwise is to be presumptuous and carnally minded. The height of presumption is to throw a “grace blanket” over your sins. That is to say: “if I have sinned I ask that you forgive what I did.” That is not confession. To confess is to name your sins the way God sees them.

The Judgment Seat of Christ ahead of time is my favorite definition of revival.

Are you honest? Are you dealing with your sins or putting it off?

What’s in the Ark?

Mercy Seat on Ark.jpg

3 Arks

  1. Inside Noah’s Ark
    1. Two of every kind of animal. Genesis 6:19-20
    2. 7 pairs of each of the clean animals. Genesis 7:2
    3. 8 souls with room for a lot more had they received the invitation
    4. And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Genesis 7:1
    5. Fruits and vegetables to feed all because neither man nor beast ate meat until after the flood.

i.       There were no venomous snakes until after the flood. If you put a venomous snake in a hyperbaric chamber today the venom becomes non poisonous.

  1. Inside the Ark of bulrushes was Moses placed there by parents with faith.
  2. Inside the Ark of the Covenant: contents varied through the years.
    1. 10 Commandments

i.      Laws that man cannot keep.

ii.      Left in the Ark for Jesus to fulfill at His coming.

  1. Golden pot of manna, removed by Philistines

i.      A reminder of God’s daily provision

ii.      For the unbelievers it was just something to eat.

  1. Aaron’s rod that budded, removed by Philistines

i.      A reminder to God’s people that God sets up authorities

ii.      For the unbelievers it was just something to eat.

Inside of the Ark of the Covenant because only the Lord could fulfill the 10 Commandments

Deuteronomy 10:5  And I turned myself and came down from the mount, and put the tables in the ark which I had made; and there they be, as the LORD commanded me.

Inside of the Ark of the Covenant as a reminder of the Lord’s daily provision

Exodus 16:33

And Moses said unto Aaron, Take a pot, and put an omer full of manna therein, and lay it up before the LORD, to be kept for your generations.

Inside of the Ark of the Covenant to remind us that the Lord sets up authorities

Numbers 17:10

And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.

In the side and by the side is the same Hebrew word. The Levites kept the whole law close to the Ark of the Covenant. The Philistines have no appreciation for the meaning of the manna and Aaron’s Rod but believed they could pay for it so they added some gold for an offering to pay for what they took.

Deuteronomy 31

24  And it came to pass, when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book, until they were finished,

25  That Moses commanded the Levites, which bare the ark of the covenant of the LORD, saying,

26  Take this book of the law, and put it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the LORD your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee.

I Samuel 4:22

And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

I Samuel 6:8

And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a trespass offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.

I Kings 8:9  There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.

The New Testament reference of the contents refers to the time before the Philistines took the Ark.

Hebews 9:4

Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron’s rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant;

God preserves

  • His word Psalm 12:6-7
  • His people Psalm 121:7-8
  • His possessions Isaiah 31:5

Where is it? My opinion is that it is in Ethiopia.  It will turn up during the construction of the next temple.

  • Jesus fulfilled the law for you; have you accepted His gift of eternal life by faith?
  • Jesus is providing all of your needs; are you satisfied with Him?
  • Jesus set up authorities for your protection and direction; are you in submission?

The Miracle of the Moment

Cosmic vs. Creator

The world is seeking after a god of their own making, they call it their religion, but God calls it idolatry.

  • We are not saved because we sought Jesus
    • We are saved because Jesus sought us. Romans 3:11
    • We are not saved because we quit sinning
      • We get saved so we can quit sinning by being controlled by the Holy Spirit. Romans 13:14
      • We are not saved because we are indwelled by the Holy Spirit
        • We are indwelled by the Holy Spirit because we are saved.  Ephesians 1:13

Salvation is not a process; it is the miracle of the moment. Do not confuse Salvation of the Spirit with Salvation of the soul. Salvation of the soul is sanctification and is a lifelong process. At salvation of the spirit a lot of procedures take place but they are all done by God. Sanctification is the out working of our salvation; the Holy Spirit doing His work through a surrendered believer.

I know the one I have believed in and am completely convinced that He is able to keep everything I committed unto Him. II Timothy 2:12

  10. We have His armour available. Ephesians 6:11
  11. We were each given a spiritual gift. I Corinthians 12:1-10
  12. We are given gifts by God will for His benefit and not of our choosing. I Corinthians 12:11

Grace is God’s offer to receive Salvation, Deliverance, or Growth

Grace flow chart

To be clear we must cut a line between Grace which is the offer and Salvation which is received by faith. Below are the two key verses to be understood.

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Titus 2:11

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Ephesians 2:8

Notice in Titus 2:11 that grace is the vehicle and salvation is the cargo that is being offered. The word “appeared” in the Greek is the same word we get epiphany from; that is it just appears to us when the Holy Spirit believes we are ready to be saved. No one will ever be able to say on Judgment Day that he never had the offer because the Holy Spirit makes sure that all have the opportunity “to all men.

Now look at Ephesians 2:8 and see that the gift of God is to be “saved” but there is a requirement of faith on the receiver’s part. God is a perfect gentleman he will never force anything upon you. He gave you a free will to make a choice and that means every day. You can’t be like the man whose wife asked him after 25 years of marriage if he still loved her and he said I told you so when I married you and if I change my mind I will let you know. The wife wants to hear it often and to grow in each of the grace gifts that God offers there must be communication.

Can a believer fall from grace?

Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. Galatians 5:4

This verse makes it clear that anyone can fall from grace but remember that grace is not salvation it is the offer. Therefore as the verse says those who are going to earn salvation, deliverance, or growth by the works of the law they have fallen from grace; that is they are not receiving the gift but are working it through religion. So they will do without.

Ephesians 2

9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Verse 9 reminds us that if we could work for anything from God we would brag about it. Then verse 10 says we are “his workmanship” and again nothing to brag about. He created us, saved us, and works through us. For Him to work through us we must lift up our cross daily and invite Him to take control in each and every situation.

Misunderstanding Grace

Salvation is God's Riches

If you are entrenched in using the acrostic at least say that it is the offer of God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense because the offer goes to all people but His riches only goes to those who accept it.

God’s riches at Christ’s expense is the inheritance of every believer but that falls way short of defining grace. That acrostic is used by those who tell us that grace and faith are both a gift from God and is irresistible when manifested to those who were predestined to come into the family of God. This acrostic description of grace is static. God’s grace is always dynamic.

Just as the serpent in the Garden was subtle and deadly so is this acrostic description because it leaves out the dynamics of grace and faith that produces the power of gospel which is the power of God unto salvation.

If one is predestined to go to heaven then another is predestined to go to hell. This concept violates God’s nature. God’s holiness demands that all who reject the free gift of grace be separated from Him in the Lake of Fire for eternity.

For those who are not fatalistic to say grace is God’s riches at Christ’s expense but it must be accepted by faith is still missing the point.

Are you accepting God’s offers that come daily?

How many Children of Israel went into Egypt?

A quick look at some random verses seems to contradict how many went into Egypt.

Genesis 46:26

All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

Genesis 46:26

All the souls that came with Jacob into Egypt, which came out of his loins, besides Jacob’s sons’ wives, all the souls were threescore and six;

These passages says 66.

Acts 7:14

Then sent Joseph, and called his father Jacob to him, and all his kindred, threescore and fifteen souls.

This passage says 75

So which is right? First consider that none of the counts included Jacob; look at the grammar.

The 66 counts do not include 9 wives of the sons. That gives us 75.

The actual total was 83 when you count Jacob, Leah, the two concubines and Joseph and his family in Egypt when you do a complete head count.

Joseph is a picture of Christ in that he went into the world and took a Gentile wife. He receives a double blessing because each of his two sons is counted as a tribe in Israel.

I just received a blessing. My webmaster is in Brazil trying to get on a plane and they would not take cash, so I prayed as we were texting back and forth trying to resolve the situation. He had already flown from one city in Brazil earlier and so he was not close to home. After the prayer the lady that told him she could not take cash used her credit card and took his cash. God always likes to work out the details when they give Him the most glory.

The next time you face a serious situation cry out to God. Remember Jeremiah 33:3

How long were the Children of Israel in Egypt?

A seeming contradiction is always good to chase down. An atheist will use it to say the Bible is a hoax. Every Biblical truth can be confused and needs through research led by the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 15:13

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

Acts 7:6

And God spake on this wise, That his seed should sojourn in a strange land; and that they should bring them into bondage, and entreat them evil four hundred years.

The above verses talk about 400 years.

Exodus 12:41

And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.

Now then we have another verse talks about 430 years. So what is the answer?

Upon carefully looking at the verses it becomes easy to see the answer.

  • They were in the land 430 years.
  • They were evil entreated 400 years.

Exodus 1:8

Now there arose up a new king over Egypt, which knew not Joseph.

Acts 7:18

Till another king arose, which knew not Joseph.

The seeming contradiction is actually there to tell us how long it took until Joseph was not known.

What authorities know you? How do they know you? What authorities do not know you? Why not?

God doesn’t believe in Atheists

Atheism

When one tells me he is an atheist I ask him when he became made that decision. I know when I became a believer in Christ. He knows when he became an atheist. When he explains he will usually tell why at the same time. If not I ask why and they always give me their explanation for their bitterness toward God.

Then I can explain their expectation is based on God being something other than what they believe. Because I know that all atheism is rooted in bitterness. Bitterness is a negative reaction to people and/or circumstances and is always traceable back to God allowing something that they did not expect.

Once bitterness sets in it won’t be long until they begin to accept all kinds of lies about God. Evolution is only one of the lies the new atheist accepts. You see light received brings more light and light rejected brings more darkness.

In 1963 America began to kick God out of the school system. Now schools are locked down and guarded like prisons.

Atheism is ultimately idolatry because the atheist does not know God’s standards. The atheist creates their own God. They answer by saying something like God would never _________. Most likely God did not _________. But God did allow it because we live in a fallen world and our real battle is against spiritual wickedness.

Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

This is what I call levels of devils. The devils biggest cover up is “I did it my way.” The devil is a liar. He supplies all of us with lies so that he can steal life from us and condemn us to an eternal separation from God.

Forgiveness is the solution to bitterness. Forgiveness changes the future.

Is there someone you need to forgive?
